DZ Testimonials

"In Delta Zeta you become part of something bigger than yourself. You have friends not just in your own sorority but in other sororities and fraternities as well. You always have someone to talk to, and have people with the same goals as you-- to become the best that you can possibly be. You have people beside you that care about you and who you are, and who are with you through good times and the bad.

Since joining Delta Zeta, I have taken on more responsibilities, and have a stronger support system, allowing me to accomplish things I never thought I would be able to. They are helping me become the woman I have always wanted to be: independent, intelligent, and strong.

Because of Delta Zeta, I get better grades, have become involved in many things around campus, and strive to be more than the average student." -- Brittany Bean, Junior, 1st Year Member

"Since joining Delta Zeta I have definitely grown as a leader. When I first joined DZ I was a shy girl and would never interject my opinion on an important topic even if I thought it was beneficial. My sisters have helped me gain confidence in myself and my actions and I have since held numerous leadership positions. The sorority has prepared me for my life outside of college through my new found confidence and development of critical social skills, both useful for interacting in the business world. By holding various positions within Delta Zeta I have learned time management and organizational skills which I know I would not have developed if I had not joined DZ." -- Business Major DZ, Senior, Member Since 2006.

"I joined because I met a really cool Rho Gamma who asked me to do "Formal Recruitment." I didn't know what that meant, but did it anyway. I ended up meeting my family here on campus within Delta Zeta. The difference I saw in DZ was that the women talked to me about real life things and had a deeper side. These weren't just girls to socialize with, these were women that I could trust with my whole being and who would love and accept me for my individuality. These were women who cared about academics, the arts, athletics, and most importantly ME. I chose Delta Zeta because it was a place where I could shine, and when I wasn't so shiny, they still loved me anyway..." -- Heidi Wurpel, UMaine Alumna, Member Since 2002

"Greek Life sparked my interest freshmen year because I wanted to get involved on campus and I wanted to meet new people. I chose Delta Zeta because I admired what the sorority stood for with her core values of loving kindness, charity, and steadfastness. I think what makes Delta Zeta unique is that we strive to maintain a strong bond of sisterhood over everything else. In other organizations you may make college buddies, but in Delta Zeta you have sisters for a lifetime.

Delta Zeta has been such a positive influence in my college experience and it has given me a tie to the university. Prior to joining Delta Zeta college was this boring place away from home. Through Delta Zeta, college has become my new home and my sisters are my family." -- AY1107

"I joined DZ because I wanted to change my life, but I didn't know how. So I decided to meet all the girls even though I had never even given consideration to joining a sorority. I quickly discovered that every one of the girls that I met were just friendly, honest, genuine women, and I wanted them to be in my life. It was awesome to join such a great group of girls who do not fit the stereotypes that I held about sororities and that many people STILL hold." -- Callie Morrissey, UMaine Alumna, Member Since 2002
